What non-destructive testing services we offer?

CAO 4U performs Non-Destructive Testing services in the methods of Penetrating Liquids, Magnetic Particles, Eddy Currents and Ultrasonic in the aviation environment.

We offer aviation non-destructive testing services located mainly in Spain and Portugal.

In addition, we have EASA approval as an EASA Part 145 Organization in Non-Destructive Testing. This allows us to issue the EASA Form 1 Certificate for the NDT inspections we carry out.

  • Non-Destructive Testing on Aircraft (Any type of aircraft, Cessna 172, A320, B727, ATR, Embraer, Piper…)
  • Non Destructive Testing on Helicopters (Robinson, Augusta, Airbus, Bell…).
  • Non-Destructive Testing on Aircraft Components and Parts (bolts, screws, nuts, bolts, links, hubs…).

In all non-destructive testing jobs that are contracted, whether they are airplane END, END in helicopters, the client has the EASA Form 1 corresponding to the inspection. Failing that, we issue a report with the inspection of the non-destructive test carried out, when the EASA Form 1 cannot be issued.

In this way, the client always has traceability with the work carried out. And the result obtained in the inspection of non-destructive tests.

In addition, the relationship between the client and CAO 4U is simple. Any Non-Destructive Test that you need on your aircraft or component, you can coordinate with us.

END services in penetrating liquids on airplane or helicopter, Eddy Current inspections on aircraft, ultrasonics on plane or helicopter, either on aircraft structure or component, including welding. Even Magnetic Particles on your planes, helicopters or any other aircraft that requires it.

And also, the Non-Destructive Testing that we offer, we carry out at the client’s facilities. You will not have to worry about aircraft positioning, or component shipments. WE MOVED TO YOUR FACILITY.

What Non-Destructive Inspections methods do we have?

Inspection by Penetrant Testing.

This Liquid Penetrant method is used for the detection of defects open to the surface in non-porous, metallic or non-metallic materials.

The inspection by Penetrant Testing cover by CAO 4U are the following types, methods and sensitivity:

Types.

  • Type I: Fluorescent

Methods.

  • Method A: Washable with water.
  • Method C: Washable with solvent.
  • Method D: Hydrophilic Post-Emulsifiables

Sensitivity Level.

Level 2: medium
Level 3: high
Level 4: very high

Magnetic Testing in aviation.

This method of Magnetic Particles is used for the detection of superficial defects, or close to the surface of the pieces, such as cracks, inclusions, folds, etc.

Inspection by Magnetic Testing is carried out by applying wet fluorescent particles, using light petroleum distillate as a suspension vehicle.

Eddy Current inspections.

This Eddy Current method is used for the detection of superficial or close to surface defects, in conductive, ferrous or non-ferrous materials.

Eddy Current method is applicable in all types of manual or dynamic inspections in aluminum alloy structural elements; of steel; or titanium; on surfaces around holes with or without mounted rivets; and inside drill holes by the eddy current method.

Ultrasonic testing in aviation.

Methods and General requirments for Ultrasonic Testing with A Scan representation and applying the contact method with angular probes; of normal incidence; and bicrystals.

It also serves to provide information for the preparation of specific procedures for parts or structural areas.

On the other hand, it is used to detect defects, volumetric or planar, located on the surface or inside the part to be inspected.

Ultrasonic inspection is based on the use of high frequency sound waves that are transmitted through the piece to be examined.

First, an electrical pulse must be generated that is applied to a transducer capable of transforming said electrical signal into ultrasound pulses. This transformation is based on the use of piezoelectric materials that deform when a potential difference is applied.

Once the ultrasonic pulse is generated, it must be transmitted to the part to be inspected, for which the presence of an intermediate medium between the transducer and the component, called couplant, is usually required.

Once the ultrasonic pulse has been transmitted to the component, it will go through it until it reaches any interface between different materials, such as a defect or the back face of the part, at which time part of the ultrasonic wave will be reflected, and can be detected again by a transducer.

The analysis of the reflected ultrasonic pulse will allow to determine the presence, size and depth of the possible defects of the piece to be examined.

In addition, in all methods we have highly qualified personnel. Levels 3 and Levels 2 in all methods, in accordance with UNE EN 4179. Levels 3 qualified by Asociación Española de Ensayos No Destructivos in aviation. (CECAEND).
